ROSAMOND AYSO REGION 827

Severe Weather

The AYSO season spans different seasons and sometimes can experience extreme weather conditions.

Practices and Games will be played in a variety of conditions.  We do not cancel practices or games for weather, except in a few circumstances.  We get a lot of wind in the Antelope Valley.  Over the season it will be hot some days and freezing on other days.  We will see wind and rain and possibly snow.  On those cold days, it is permissible for players to wear leggings, sweatshirts, etc. under their uniforms.  Numbers be visible and hoods need to be tucked.  Soft beanies and gloves are also allowable.

Conditions which may cancel games or practices:

1) Field conditions are unsafe (extreme flooding damage to the field).
          a) We may also cancel if playing on the field in the current condition would cause undo or irreparable damage to the field.
2) Lightning in the area.
          a) If thunder can be heard in the vicinity, the board or a referee may opt to suspend play.
          b) AYSO recommends resuming play after thunder & lightning have subsided for a period of 30 minutes.
3) Heat index (combination of temperature and humidity) is above 105.
          a) Warm temperatures may not be enough to cancel play.
          b) The Rosamond Regional Board will notify coaches when it is determined the Heat Index is above the 105 threshold.
          c) Reference the National Weather Service website to determine Heat Index or view the chart below.
